Characteristics of False Teachers

May 6, 2018 Speaker: Matt Becker

Passage: Jude 1:8–1:19

Jude made a necessary appeal to the early Christians to contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints. To that end, he warns of certain people who have slithered their way into the church with false doctrines. We are to know and avoid these ungodly people. (Jude 1:3,4)

Graciously, the Holy Spirit, through Jude, gives us some identifying marks of these false teachers, as well as why or how they might arise in the church.

Marked Identifiers of False Teachers

  1. The sensuality, rebellion and arrogance of false teachers. (Jude 1:8-10)
  2. The destructive fruitlessness and selfishness of false teachers. (Jude 1:12-13)
  3. Speech against God and to manipulate others. (Jude 1:14-16)
